PART L COMPLIANCE NON DWELLINGS
The new Part L (Conservation of Fuel and Power) 2006 revision of the Building Regulations came into force on April 2006. Part L2 covers compliance requirements for all buildings other than dwellings, and is split into L2A for new buildings and L2B for existing buildings.
BER (Building Emissions rate) / TER (Target Emissions rate) CO2 calculations are now required to demonstrate compliance with Part L2A for all new buildings other than dwellings.
Criterion 1 of the new Part L requires a new building’s BER to be less than or equal to the TER.
The TER is calculated to be around 25-28% better than buildings constructed under the 2002 Part L regulations.
EAC can produce the calculations required, and offer advice in achieving compliance.
